This summer (2005) I've been finally in Japan: while being in Kyoto, I've seen women that had the classic geisha-like make up and dress. They are simply fascinating, the way they moves, the way they look like, it seems like you've been thrown in the Japan of a lot of years ago. Really something worth to be seen.
